It was an emotional moment for the Yooko.fr team, which last Thursday presented Samuel Accoceberry and his Tresse carpet for Chevalier Edition with the first ever Yookô award, on the occasion of the inauguration of RECIPROCITY Design Liege 2012. Chosen among the 60 creations presented at Memorabilia, designing souvenirs – RECIPROCITY’s flagship exhibition dedicated to « the evocative power of objects » – this piece epitomises the preservation of exceptional know-hows, which is dear to Yookô, and the role of the designer in the enhancement of these skills.
According to the designer, the Tresse carpet « is formally inspired by boating knots and plaiting in general. It’s a polymorphic object, whose shape and graphics change depending on its size. »
Alongside Samuel Accoceberry, which will become a member of the Yookô Network for a whole year, three other prizes worth € 5,000 were awarded to Michaël Bihain for his Diaphragm stool (Euregio Award), Jean-François D’Or for his Elizabeth mirror at Reflect+ (Wallonia Award) and Eugenia Morpurgo for her shoe repair kit R.I.Y. Repair It Yourself (International Award).
An event to discover until 28th October…
