Le Dessein du Geste exhibition at the Paris Town Hall > October 10
From Tuesday 11 September, come and discover ‘Le dessein du geste’ exhibition in the Prévôts and Tapisseries rooms of the Paris Town Hall, which offers visitors the chance to understand the impact of the collaboration between the craft and design industries through 26 French companies with great know-how.
Alki, Baccarat, La Cornue, Pleyel, Tolix… For each of them, two pieces are put into dialogue: one object taken from our heritage and another created in collaboration with a contemporary French designer. Each pair thus expresses a filiation and sheds light on one or several axes of innovation: material, shape, use, technology, market, etc.
Another highlight of the exhibition: Sophie Zénon’s photographs echo the duo of pieces and lead the viewer into the privacy of the workshop, powerfully revealing the precision and dexterity of the creators.
Conceived as a contemporary showcase of French excellence in the workmanship of furniture and objects, the exhibition must be comprehended as a real journey into the heart of the French manufactures of great tradition that have gambled on contemporary creation.
Designed by Alain Lardet and Scott Longfellow in partnership with the City of Paris, « Le dessein du geste » exhibition was staged by Gilles Belley.
