Redux – Series of architectural furniture by Alix Welter – Design September Brussels
Alix Welter is a trained architect, and one can say that it shows… Invited by Design September, the Belgian designer is presenting ’Redux’, his furniture and objects series at the excellent New Exhibit Design exhibition.
The red thread uniting all these creations: wood of course, but also and especially a clever 3 piece fitting system developed by Alix Welter and now proposed under many different forms: shelves, table, coffee table, bench, basket…
Under the philosophy of Alix Welter, eco-design is an obviousness: woodworking, scraps from limited materials, flat-shaped delivery in order to minimise packaging, no or hardly any glue or screws. The user takes possession of the piece, which he must assemble himself.
A real crush at the Brussels festival for this simple, economical and particularly accomplished design… And a self-locking fitting system that reminds us of the remarkable Join table by German designers Ding3000.
