Structure chair by Michaël Bihain – Kortrijk 2012 Preview
On the occasion of the 2012 Biennale Interieur in Kortrijk, Brussels Invest & Export and MAD Brussels – fashion and design centre – will be presenting a selection of Brussels designers around the classic stylistic composition: draw a chair.
Among them, Michaël Bihain, a recent prize-winner at RECIPROCITY Design Liege 2012 with the Diaphragm stool. The Belgian designer will present Structure, a singular chair project made from 32 round and identical solid ash profiles. If the elements are to be visualised as randomly placed, in reality they are optimally positioned and structured for user comfort and overall solidity.
Stackable, customisable, the Structure chair was developed in the perspective of an optimised and low energy production. A project to discover from this weekend in Kortrijk alongside other creations by 12 Belgian designers including Julien Carretero, Louise Charlier, Benoît Deneufbourg or Alix Welte, whose remarkable Redux furniture range we recently presented.
